I am selling this Rambler for a friend, however, I was the previous owner......
Listed for your bidding pleasure is a 1966 Rambler American 440 Sedan. It was sold new in March of 1967 (we have the original window sticker!) Clean PA title.
I purchased the car in 1996 from the original owner with 43,000 original miles, and happily drove the car through high school and college. Last year I sold it to a friend who needed a car, and now I am helping her to sell it. We both thought it best for me to provide the details for this listing, since I owned it for more than a decade.
The car has the optional 232 straight six with the two barrel carb. The transmission was completely rebuilt at roughly 45, 000, and the car now has 79, 787. The paint is original except for the front left fender, which was repainted in 1998 after a mail truck rubbed that side. (paid for by the US postal service!)
The interior is original, however there is a tear in the driver's seat as can be seen in the photos.
The cons: The car has been off the road since January of this year when the inspection ran out. While owned by my friend the passenger side rear vent window was broken. This will need to be replaced in order to pass inspection. Also, it has developed an exhaust leak near the manifold. I think it might need a new manifold to exhaust pipe seal. And finally, the oil light just cam on the other day. I think it is the sending unit (I have replaced two of these over the years). The engine runs VERY well, and starts promptly ever after sitting in my garage for more than a month! If you were not going very far I would say that it could be driven home......but I wouldn't drive to California in it!!!!!
