Description
1965 Triumph TR 4 IRS

This car is Titled as a 1965. The last TR 4, before the start of the TR 4A was 6 January 1965, car number CT40304. With approximately 11,500 produced, based on the numbering system, in 1964 I would judge that this car was actually produced in the early Fall of 1964. So, it is probably a true 1964 with a title not issued until 1965, which would be very typical.

RED / BLACK

Car has a solid chassis - NO Rust

The fenders, floor pans, desk and hood are all rust free upon inspection
The Rocker Panels have holes. They will need to be replaced to make this an EXCELLENT Car for RESTORATION.

I cannot guarantee that there is no bondo under the paint but there are no signs and the paint looks like it is probably original.

I will replace the rockers and have them in primer ready to paint for $500 OVER and ABOVE the winning bid price.

The Photos show the seat frames and support is in good shape. There is some very light surfacing rust, more of a haze on the Seat Tracks. Very usable with a light rub with steel wool and some spray paint.

The Spare Tire Well has NO Rust. Look at the photo with the spare, it is all red paint through the spokes.

If you want to just drive the car as it sits the only pressing thing I can see is the need to look at the front suspension to clarify safety. I would inspect at the upper and lower ball joints and inspect the rear  Universal Joints. They look loose. This is less than $200 in parts. I do not have a mechanics view on this. It is my opinion.

We bought this car to restore and in fact just sold a 1963 TR 4 two weeks ago for $21,000.
My partner, who runs the shop, is now covered up in Jaguars, having recently sold a 1967 e-Type Roadster for $130,000, and the next '67 one is on the Rotisserie
(and perhaps sold) with a third '64 one on its way.

So, we simply will not have the time to get to this car for many months. Instead of storing it I am going to offer it to you.

Our shop has put Carburetor Kits on the car and worked on the brakes to make them functional. The Engine sounds and feels SWEET. The car shifts out nice with absolutely NO issues when shifting.

When we received this car the trucker (it arrived enclosed) lost control of the car in the trailer because of the lack of brakes when it arrived. It destroyed the driver's door so we replaced the door. The door is the proper color. Now the car's oxidation shows up more.

This car could be a beautiful driver with a paint job (after the rockers), an Interior Kit, and Carpet. The TOP is serviceable but if I painted it, it would depend upon my use of a top as to whether I wanted a new top or not. This one will work to keep the water out and will be just fine under a boot.

I was looking forward to the Restoration of this Car. It is hard to find one that drives this sweet. The carburetor kits did the trick.

So, you can have a decent driver as she sits, after checking out the Universals and the ball joints. You can do a light, or Driver's restoration, doing the paint and interior, or you have a WONDERFUL car for a complete restoration.

Please take note, many advertise their cars as projects. This is a running driving car. The drive train is fabulous. The Drive Train is, as far as I have experienced, without Issue.

Remember, rust is isolated to the rockers and for $500 added to the sale price I will have those replaced with new sheet metal and in Primer for you when you take delivery.

Happy Bidding. If you have any questions or need for additional information please send me a question through e-Bay or give me a call.

Thanks, Sam
