Greetings all! Well, I purchased this monster with the hopes of making it into a taxi cab. How ever, When I bought the car, the guy left out the information that the motor needed rod and main bearings and so when I changed the oil, I found out that the bearings were worn out, and making a pinging noise in the lower part of the motor. I took it over the Lamark Ford Dealer and had them tear it down to look into what it was that was making that noise and they said that one of the rod bearings needed replaced. They told me that it would be $1700 to repair. I priced the bearing kits for the 4.6L Romeo and found them for $97.00 for the complete kit and another $13.00 for the oil pan gasket. But, Ford told me they wanted to use there parts and charge me the labor on top of a higher price on there own parts so, At that point, I had them put it back together and drove it back home. They said that it still had a few thousand miles to go but I can not afford to take a chance in the motor going out so I have decided to cut my losses and sell it. Here is what I know about the car, It has the complete police package, The motor actually despite the bearings runs like a raped ape! No oil leaks, no smoking, no compression loss, and runs out very very strong! I took it to DEQ (smog station) and it passed smog. I primered the doors and top from the white, and was getting ready to paint the blue back on. Has new Goodyear GSA tires, and brakes. Special suspension set up with some kind of traction device in the rear. This car is a head snapper for sure even with its problem. If some one had a garage where they can put the car in the air and pull the oil pan down and pull the crank and bearings out, they would have them selves a sweet monster of a car!
