BUY IT NOW: $17,500 (with stereo)

RESERVE: $13,000 (anything under buy it now does not include stereo)

I guess I never planned to be writing this. My baby is for sale. Growing up and having kids will do that to you. I know it's the same story you've seen from time to time, but alas, it is the case for me. My wife and I are trying for our first child, and it's time to get the family truckster, as only Chevy Chase can say. In place of this beauty will come a wagon. Ugh. But here's the deal - the wagon arrives sometime between the end of August and beginning of October. So when you bid, I require a deposit, but we can wait to settle the transaction until I accept delivery of my new vehicle. This gives you time to get financing, sell your old vehicle, or both.

Here's what you really want...more pictures:

Description:

The basics of it are this -- you either buy the car as it is, with all of the stuff listed below -- or with all of the stuff listed below minus the stereo which would go for over three grand on the street. If you don't want the stereo then bid as such -- in other words -- unless you hit my buy it now price the stereo will not come with the car.

Negatives:

Just two months ago, I was being a dope and forgot I left my bike on the roof when pulling into the garage. The bike hit the house and pushed the rack back on the car. It dented the moldings and paneling a bit on the support column. You can hardly tell from a distance, but you can see from the pics on the google page how it looks close up. Other than that nothing major has ever happened to this sweetie.

Fog lights no longer work. They just went out about 4 months ago. I guess the filaments burned out.

Check engine light is on, confirmed by the OBDII codes to be a result of the O2 sensors. Obviously this is a result of the aftermarket exhaust and up-pipe. I did Cobb's resistor fix, but that didn't work. So that's why I bought the stock Sti exhaust - to pass emissions. Most states won't fail you for a CEL.

No other issues to be aware of. Normal wear.

Positives:

MY (model year) 2003 WRX Sedan with spoiler, factory insalled short shifter and Sti package which includes the titanium knob and boost guage (with after market, running close to 16 lbs. of boost - normal at atmosphere of 14 lbs.).

Will consistently get 25mpg if I'm not stomping on it. Gas mlieage even while running it hard has never been below 15-17.

AC almost never used (won't need a recharge anytime soon).

No accidents (besides fun with the garage above).

Has only had synthetic oil, and had the plugs changed over to iridium around 40K.

Mileage is not racing mileage in any way. Never been to the track. Counting a cross country trip to Denver, a few trips to then homes in Ohio and PA from CT, and at one point, a trip to Boston every weekend for a year, mileage is more than 50% constituted by longer trips on the highway.

Has the arm rest and navigational rear view mirror.

Had a teflon coating done on the car at dealer, called TST. It protects the paint (because subarus are notorius for crappy paint...relative to an Audi, for example).

Had a custom wheel package done - 18" prodrive with Bridgestone RE40 (now 50) A tires put on for summers. I ran the stocks until they wore out for winters, and then put a Blizzak package with steels on it. So this vehicle also comes with, for "nothing", a winter set of tires / rims. The summers cost me over two grand, and the winters about eight hundred.

Had a custom LEATHER interior put on this vehicle at the showroom from Katzkin (look it up if you want to know more about them) with piping and panels. In addition to this, I hand wove the yellow matched threading in the Momo steering wheel (see pics).

In September 2003 I went to town on the drive of the vehicle and did an APS stage II kit (it cost me roughly four grand, un-installed, just parts) - downpipe, uppipe (PDE), BOV, full cat back exhaust, y pipe to the intercooler, cold air intake, cold water sprayers, and Unichip - all APS except the chip and up-pipe. In case you don't know, APS is the real deal after market shop from Australia - the guys that Cobb try to mimick in the States (look it up if you want to know more about them). Check out the pics of the receipts for the dyno testing and installation of the UNICHIP.

In addition to the engine, I also have prodrive springs, KYB AGX shocks (not adjustable), both front and rear Cusco strut tower braces, and slotted rotors with Cobb brake pads. Brakes were bled 20,000 miles ago (at 64,000 miles) and replaced with high temp blue performance fluid as well. Will probably need new pads in 10-15,000 miles.

As mentioned, I also have a totally custom (hand done, by me) stereo system in this vehicle. I am more than willing to part with it and the vehicle at the buy it now to save me the time of taking it out, but if you don't want it (don't hit the buy it now), I have no problem taking it out. It's worth more to me than three grand anyway, but at least it won't hurt as much to let it go. I realize the market value of "used" stereo equipment isn't that wonderful. But three grand will allow me to get a start in the new family truckster, at least to the point where the wife won't complain. So here's the basics of what I have:

   - SPEAKERS: MB Quartz 6" components front with kicker super dome 1 1/4 inch tweeters (so two sets of tweeters - kicker and MB quartz), Alpine 6" component 6" rear doors, Alpine 6" rear DECK component, JL Audio W7 12" sub; AMPS: Alipne MRV-1000 150x2 for fronts, Alpine MRV-T757 100x2 for rear doors, MRV-F507 25x4 (bridged 50x2) for the rear DECK, and MRP-M1000-P 650 RMSx1 (mono amp) for the JL Audio sub (BRAND NEW as of March, old MRV-1507 busted because of water damage from my skis, DUMB!!); PLUS Alpine head unit CDA-9831, Alpine 6-disc changer, Alpine iPod direct connect adapter with switcher so the iPod and 6-disc changer can both be controlled from the head unit (with album, song and playlist display and control), Alpine ERE-G180 11-band ACTIVE EQ, 2-farad capacitor, 2 gold-plated power distribution blocks, 0 guage wire to the blocks, 4 and 8 guage wire to the split to the amps, monster cable and stinger RCAs (all RCAs run opposite of the power cable to minimize power "buzz" sound - it's been eliminated as a result); NEW 900 CCA battery (as of February 08') along with circuit breaker so you can trip the whole system; whole car, except roof, dynamatted --------- Needless to say, this thing is loud, crisp, and clear. Just the way I designed. This system cost me eight to nine grand (uninstalled).

Vehicle also comes with Bridgestone Blizzak snow tires - about 13,000 miles on them. I did black steel wheels so that you don't have to worry about dinging up the summers. This car is virtually unstoppable in the snow. It may sound exagguarated, but it's probably an understatement. I had an Audi quattro before this and that didn't come close to touching the Subaru with these tires. See pics for invoice.

Vehicle also comes with full Sti stock exhaust. I bought this from the wife's work colleague to pass inspection in the State of CO, which is much tougher than anywhere else besides CA. This thing is mint. Only used 600 miles.

Vehicle also comes with after market rubber water-catch floor mats and with original basically never-used stock mats.

Buyer pays for, and arranges for, shipping if necessary. Seller willing to meet in person within a reasonable driving distance.

Buyer agrees to purchasing as part of the sale price: summer rims and tires, winters rims and tires, all after market engine work, rubber floor mats, stock Sti exhaust, after market slotted rotors, and dynamatting as described. Optional purchase is the custom stereo (you have to hit the buy it now price). If not hit, stock upgraded stereo will be put back into the vehicle.
