Due to a non-responding ebayer, this car is up for auction again!
This is a perfect example of a well taken care of reliable luxury Classic with excellent miles! The 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SE is one of the most rare and sought after luxury cars on the road and with only a little over 63,000 actual miles there is still plenty of life left!
This one is loaded with options including but not limited to Power Windows, Locks, and Mirrors, Leather Seats, Power Moon roof, Automatic Transmission, Cruise Control, Cassette Player, CB, and much more!
This one boasts the powerful 4.5L 8 cylinder Engine that will be sure to give you an excellent return on your investment!
Here is a little history on this car. This is a two owner vehicle and has been given lots of love. The first owner was a older lady who actually had a hired driver drive her to the market and church twice a week in the Mercedes. She had it until around 45,000 miles until she passed away in 1999. From there the Mercedes was purchased at her estate sale. The lady who purchased it did so for her dad who used to have one in the 70's. She drove him around on weekends and in the summer time because he was sick and couldn't drive. Unfortunately, he passed away last year and she has now she had no use for the car.
The car has ran and drove all these years and never had a problem until this year. This summer when she took it out of storage she couldn't get it to run right. It will start, run, and idle just fine but once you give it gas it seems to bog down and want to cut out. Due to that the car will most likely need towed or dollied to the winner's destination. The Mercedes mechanic says it is most likely a fuel issue. The motor sounds good and the transmission is smooth while driving.
There are a couple rust spots that need to be attended to if you want the car to be perfect. They are shown in the pictures but the worst spot is above both headlights (they are not rusted through), there is a spot on the bottom of the driver side door, and a spot on the corner in front of the passenger side rear tire. Overall, it would be a very easy fix. Also, there is a tear in the driver side seat that is shown in the pictures and the air filter cover is missing. Lastly, the rear driver side door started sticking and I am unable to get it open (probably something simple).
This has been well taken care of and it has been a non smoker vehicle. You will get a lot of looks driving this around!
