This vehicle is a kit car but it's titled as an authentic 1957 Porsche 356 Carrera Convertible. I paid $30.00 for my antique class car tag and if I were to keep the car I'd never have to renew the tag. Check in your state for guidelines on antique tags. Because of it being titled as an authentic Porsche I only pay $ 238.18 annually on full coverage auto insurance from State Farm. I bought this car in Dallas, Texas from a Volvo Dealer who swore it was custom made by Anthem Motors in Phoenix, Arizona in 2002. A sticker underneath the front reads Qualidade 2002. I looked them up and they specialize in Cobra replicas but will take on special designs if they desire to. The car has a 1600cc Volkeswagon Engine, a tubular frame that sits on a Volkeswagon pan, and, front wheel disk brakes. The hardwood steering wheel has the name E. Nardi engraved on it. All I know is that it's an intimidating car. I have only met one person that thought it was a kit car and that was a guy at an antique car show who felt under the back panel for fiber glass. Everything has been detailed to look authentic. The color is an amazing brown!! I've never seen this color on any other speedster. One of the guitar players for Diamond Rio stopped me in a parking lot and told me all about the car. He said he'd recognize that car anywhere and that he personally knew the guy in Dallas that owned it and that it was a beautiful ride. This car is an amazing attention getter. Everyone either waves, honks their horns, are intimidated by it or wants their pictures taken with it. I have never had so much fun with a car in my life. I took it to the Volkeswagon dealership to get the oil changed. The service guys put it up on a rack and tried to find where to change the oil. They said they were too scared to work on this expensive of a car and that I'd do better to take it to the Porsche dealership. When I asked them how much they thought the car was worth they all said over 100 grand. I ended up meeting a guy who told me how simple it was to change the oil so I do it myself. On top of all this I get an incredible 35 mpg gas mileage. This is the cheapest and most fun ride you can ever own. Shawn, at Able Auto Transport 1-877-288-6718 ext. 229, quoted me $825.00, which is an unbelievably great price. He said rule of thumb was .75 cents a mile with an open trailer and $1.20 a mile with enclosed. They can do this price because they ship multiple cars on one large trailer so everyone's carpooling their vehicle.
